I've not been writing for a long time now (almost a year!), and I believe it's time to start again.
To start off, lately, I have been thinking about marriage. I've been thinking about it often enough to think about thinking about it and start wondering if I'm obsessing. Then I begin think about the various things that I must do before I get married. For example, I am moving to Oakland to live with my friends, be part of my church community, and have a better commute to work. In that process, I have been straddling the line of having cheap dormy furniture vs. furniture that I like and will take with me. I decided to go with the latter, so I bought a solid shelf instead of using a free one, and I went to Crate and Barrel Outlet to explore. I found a wonderful little patio set that sang to me from its display; I have always envisioned having a dining set that could easily be moved for outdoors dining.
Getting my things together and moving to Oakland is certainly more immediate than starting to date again and tying the knot. At the same time, marriage/dating/romance/love does occupy much of our collective consciousness.
One day, I know I will get there, and until then, I'm trying to sift through more immediate things with grace, compassion, and hilarity.

i did the same in terms of dining. found a nice 6-piece patio set from bed&bath and used it for both indoor & outdoor dinners.
now that its summer, its nice to have dinner outside on the sidewalk or the patio.
congrats on moving to Oakland.
